"The Abominable Crime" won the 2014 Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival's inaugural Amnesty International Human Rights Prize. In its award announcement, the Festival described filmmaker Micah Fink’s documentary as a "touching, troubling reflection of the struggle gays and lesbians in Jamaica face to achieve their rights."

The Pulitzer Center-supported documentary was one of three Festival selections in contention for the Amnesty International Human Rights Prize for a Caribbean film that best highlights a human rights issue. Amnesty International and the Festival established the prize during summer 2014.

"The Abominable Crime" screened at the 2014 Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival on Wednesday, September 17 and Sunday, September 28.

Aurora Herrera recently interviewed Fink for the Festival, writing about the film that the "personal, intimate accounts of discrimination and violence perpetrated against gays in Jamaica take the audience on an emotional journey... revealing the psychological and social impacts of discrimination on the lives of gays and lesbians."
