Donate NowCBS Philly, CBS' Philadelphia television affiliate, covered a Pulitzer Center-sponsored discussion for students of the Science Leadership Academy, a magnet public high school featuring former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and former National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley in Philadelphia. Albright and Hadley were joined by Jon Sawyer, the Pulitzer Center's executive director at the Franklin Institute .
Albright and Hadley discussed the Middle East and the importance of a bipartisan approach to foreign policy. According to CBS Philly, the "magnet public high school fired off questions, the first of which centered on President Trump's immigration plans," to which Madeleine Albright responded with his travel ban being "a gift to ISIS" and "a great recruitment poster for them."
She added, "It has made it more difficult for us to have cooperation in the region, especially for our troops and people in Iraq. It’s made it more difficult to collect intelligence that would help us deal with the issue."
The report by CBS Philly also noted that both Albright and Hadley believed that a two-state solution would be the best course of action in the Palestine-Israel conflict.
In Philadelphia, Albright and Hadley also visited University of Pennsylvania. As co-chairs of the Middle East Strategy Task Force, a two-year initiative by the Rafik Hariri Center at the Atlantic Council, they have been touring Pulitzer Center partner schools and universities to discuss the Middle East and also to plead for a return to a more bipartisan approach to foreign policy.
