Jason Motlagh Discusses the Maoist Insurgency in India and the Challenges of Covering Underreported Global Stories

On Thursday, February 21, 2008, Jason Motlagh visits with American University journalism students. Just back from India where he reported on the Naxalite insurgency in the Pulitzer Center-sponsored reporting project "India's Backdoor War," Jason will share his experiences with students.

Among the many topics Jason will cover, he'll particularly address the international news gathering and reporting process, the feasibility of working as a foreign correspondent in these times of budget tightening, what are the most effective ways of entering that field, and what is it like to work as a reporter in Asia.

Read Is Foreign Correspondence Vanishing? a response to Jason's presentation from Megan Wollerton, a student at American University.

And Forging a New Path: the Evolving Foreign Correspondent from Janeen Heath, Pulitzer Center Communication and Production Specialist.
