For the second year in a row, Pulitzer Center grantee Paula Bronstein has been selected for inclusion in PDN's Photo Annual. This year, she is being recognized for her project "Afghanistan's War Wounded," documenting the "collateral damage" of civilian casualties in a war that has lasted for more than 15 years. 

Bronstein is a veteran photojournalist who has worked as staff photographer for major US newspapers including The Hartford Courant and the Chicago Tribune before moving to Bangkok where she went on to work for Getty Images as a staff photographer. Currently a freelancer, Bronstein’s images have been published in major outlets around the world. Her work reflects a dedicated humanitarian and visual war correspondent finding moments that others might overlook.

Also known as Photo District News, PDN is a trade magazine for professional photographers. Its annual collection of photos showcases work across many categories–from advertising to personal photography to sports.
