Photography by Pulitzer Center grantee Paula Bronstein on war widows in Afghanistan has been selected for inclusion in PDN's Photo Annual 2016.

Bronstein traveled to Afghanistan in 2015 on a Pulitzer Center grant to photograph women widowed by decades of war. Her work showcases the extreme poverty of widows who have few opportunities for economic support in a war ravaged country with strict limitations on women working outside the home.

Also known as Photo District News, PDN is a trade magazine for professional photographers. Its annual collection of photos showcases work across many categories–from advertising to personal photography to sports. Bronstein was selected in the photojournalism/documentary category for her series, "War Widows of Afghanistan" published by the Pulitzer Center and The Wall Street Journal.
