Three Pulitzer Center grantees have been named finalists for the American Society of Magazine Editors' (ASME) 2017 National Magazine Awards for Print and Digital Media, also known as the Ellie Awards.
Malia Politzer and Emily Kassie are finalists in the Multimedia category for "The 21st Century Gold Rush: How the Refugee Crisis Is Changing the World Economy," a four-part multimedia story published by Huffington Post Highline. The story is part of their Pulitzer Center-supported reporting project, "Refugee Boom and Bust: A Global Gold Rush."
Ben Taub is a finalist in the Reporting category for "The Assad Files," published in The New Yorker and part of his Pulitzer Center-supported reporting project of the same name. Taub is also a finalist for "The Shadow Doctors," also published in The New Yorker but not part of his Pulitzer Center reporting project.
The Ellie Awards honor print and digital publications that consistently demonstrate superior execution of editorial objectives, innovative techniques, noteworthy journalistic enterprise and imaginative design. Originally limited to print magazines, the awards now recognize magazine-quality journalism published in any medium. Founded in 1966, the awards are sponsored by the American Society of Magazine Editors in association with the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and are administered by ASME.
