Pulitzer Center Partners with CTU and Fox32 to Share Educational Videos with Chicago Students

“We Still Teach” initiative will connect educational content with Chicago students sheltering in place, particularly those who continue to lack broadband access and/or electronic devices to work remotely.

In an effort to reach high-needs students in Chicago, the Pulitzer Center K–12 education team has partnered with the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) and Fox32/WPWR My50 to provide educational videos as part of an hour of daily television programming. The first episode, which aired at 11:00am Central Time on Monday, May 11, featured a video by Pulitzer Center grantee journalist Allison Shelley on photographic techniques. The program, called "We Still Teach," will run through Friday, June 19⁠, the end of the school year in Chicago Public Schools.

The CTU describes "We Still Teach" as an "effort to bridge the digital divide during remote learning. Thousands of CPS students still lack adequate electronic devices and/or broadband Internet access. This programming aims to offer every student access to shared content that educates, inspires and motivates learning during school closures."

Programming created by Chicago teachers and community partners including the Pulitzer Center will air daily at 11:00am Central Time, on Mondays/Wednesdays for K–3; Tuesdays/Thursdays for 4–8; and Fridays for all ages K–12.
