Pulitzer Center's 'Far from Over' Series Explores Challenges to 'Ending Aids'

In 2016, the Pulitzer Center supported "Ending AIDS," a multi-part series for PBS NewsHour, Science and BuzzFeed on efforts in the United States and across Africa to decrease the spread of HIV/AIDS, with the goal of ending AIDS. The project won a national Emmy and also the top broadcast journalism prize from the National Academies of Sciences, Medicine, and Engineering.

This week we launched "Far from Over," which details the challenges to ending the epidemic in Russia, Nigeria, and the state of Florida. Led by Jon Cohen, who has covered the HIV/AIDS epidemic for 30 years, the series includes a 16-page cover story in print for Science and a five-part series on PBS NewsHour, produced by William Brangham and Jason Cane. Photographer Misha Friedman's images are featured in the reporting and will be exhibited as part of the the 22nd International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2018) in Amsterdam in late July.
