I am happy to announce the launch this week of a new website, "Threatened Waters: China's Wetland Crisis." This is the culmination of the work that I have been producing for the Pulitzer Center over the past couple of months on China's disappearing wetlands.

As you will notice when you first enter the site, a map of China appears with a series of points across the country. Each of these points represents a place that I visited during my reporting, and when you roll your cursor over one of the points, it will give you a selection of images from that location. You will also have the option of viewing a video/multimedia piece from that location. [New multimedia will be uploaded in the coming weeks and months.]

I hope that providing a map will help visitors to the site visualize where these places are located, and also help their geographic understanding of this complex nation. By showing the breadth of locations where wetlands are found, I also hope to underscore the systemic issues surrounding water that link these locations across the country.

As well as a visual showcase for this work, I hope that the site can be used as an educational tool for individuals or institutions interested in wetland issues in Asia.

When you enter the website, you will see a menu to the left of the screen. One of the options on the menu reads, "How YOU can help." This section offers links to ways in which viewers interested in the issue can get involved and make a difference. The section lists volunteer opportunities inside and outside of China and also has a number of links leading to further resources on the subject.
