One hundred youth from nearly as many countries gathered in Washington, D.C. as part of this week's Women Deliver conference on maternal health. The young leaders convened in a pre-conference gathering to share their experiences and participate in a series of workshops. The Pulitzer Center's Summer Marion and Kate Steger co-hosted sessions on blogging and new media with UNFPA's Ida Christensen of the Conversations for a Better World blog as part of the June 6 session.

The youth teamed up with professional allies present at the conference to share ideas on improving public awareness of maternal health issues. Stay tuned for post-conference updates from the Pulitzer Center's five youth partners from Nigeria, India, South Africa, Kenya and Azerbaijan.

Check out the Deliver for Youth blog for the buzz on maternal health issues leading up to the conference. For more, see the Pulitzer Center's newest gateway website, Dying for Life, and engage in the conversation by entering the Pulitzer Center/Helium essay contest on maternal health before June 24.
