University of Southern California

The University of Southern California began in 1880 with 53 students and 10 teachers in a town that lacked paved roads, electric lights, and phones. It has grown to one of the world’s leading private research universities and a critical institution in Los Angeles. More than 33,000 students attend, taught by nearly 3,200 full-time faculty.

USC strives to provide ample study abroad and internship opportunities for its students. It also focuses on integrating liberal and professional education themes. USC pushes its students to pursue knowledge across all boundaries.

To create the Campus Consortium partnership, the Pulitzer Center is joining with USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, and USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences.

Both institutions push students to learn in and out of the classroom, offering seminars with renowned scholars and focusing on projects that have real world impacts and implications. For example, USC Dornsife students have traveled around the world for Problems Without Passports courses, from Egypt and Turkey to study religion, democracy and civil society to Hong Kong and Macau to study the two dynamic cities and produce an online collection of cultural travel writing.
