Meet the Journalist: Matt Black

Photojournalist Matt Black explores the social landscape in Guerrero, Mexico, in the aftermath of the kidnapping of 43 students on September 26, 2014. In reporting on the political and social fabric of Guerrero, the country's second poorest and most violent state, he notes that that when residents searched for their missing children they discovered hidden graves for as many as 400 other persons. He also finds that hope for the next generation has been "snuffed out."

Matt's work draws attention to the way the U.S. contributes to the violence across the border. "This is a story of us, not just of them somewhere over there," he says.
