Nadja Drost: Colombia's Gold Mining Conflict

Afro-Colombians in La Toma's mining community are struggling to stay in control of the gold mines. As mining titles are being granted to Colombian and international mining outfits, local miners are beginning to defy outsiders mining on their territories, yet not without a price. Local miners face death threats and harrasments for their resistance. Pulitzer Center grantee Nadja Drost's report on mining in Colombia is part of her ongoing project, "Colombian Communities Are Losing Out in Gold Rush."
