Rieke Havertz on Chicago's Gun Violence, from a German Perspective

Rieke Havertz is an editor and writer for the German newspaper Taz, Die Tageszeitung. With a degree in journalism and American Studies from the University of Leipzig in Germany, Rieke lived in Ohio for a year and has traveled extensively in the US. She wrote about the 2012 presidential election as an Arthur F. Burns fellow at the Christian Science Monitor.

Rieke has been reporting from Chicago for her project "Gun Violence in Chicago: A Global Problem." She reported on the sales of local gun shops, the strict gun laws and the neighborhoods that suffer most from violence.
