Decades of civil strife brought about the historic referendum in southern Sudan in January. Election results show the region voted overwhelmingly to declare independence from Khartoum. An informed panel on foreign policy and public affairs will explore what may be next for Africa's newest state and for this fractured region.
Rebecca Hamilton is a special correspondent on Sudan for The Washington Post and author of Fighting for Darfur. She is reporting on Sudan for the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting.
