Join the Pulitzer Center at Boston University on Friday, April 20, 2018, for a day-long symposium on the interplay between climate change and public health. Among the speakers are Pulitzer Center Executive Director Jon Sawyer and Pulitzer Center grantee Joanne Silberner as well as New York Times Magazine writer Nathaniel Rich.
In response to increasing climate change concern, many cities are developing long term policies to reduce carbon emissions. Public health researchers are documenting how these policies are benefiting local residents. However, this research is not being effectively communicated to motivate sustainable, wide-scale action.
This symposium will join thought leaders from public health, cities, and journalism to develop strategies that bring greater attention to, and produce visionary actions addressing, the global climate challenge.
"Changing the Climate: How Public Health, Cities, and the Media Can Advance Climate Solutions" is a symposium organized by Boston University's School of Public Health and co-hosted by the Pulitzer Center. Additional partners include Boston University Initiative on Cities and Harvard Center for Health and the Global Environment. Boston University is a Campus Consortium partner through its School of Public Health and College of Communication.
