Yale University features photography by Pulitzer Center grantee Larry C. Price as part of a documentary photography exhibition called "Digging for Gold."

"Digging for Gold" examines the socio-ecological impacts of gold mining in Peru, Mozambique, Romania, Spain, Greece, Burkina Faso, and the Philippines. The exhibition is part of "Gold Week" at Yale, a series of events ranging from lectures to an exhibition and a film screening taking place November 4-7, 2014.

The exhibition opens with a reception on Thursday, November 6, co-sponsored by the Earth Institute at Columbia University and the Pulitzer Center, in partnership with the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

A two-time Pulitzer Prize photojournalist, Price has spent much of his career in newspaper journalism as a photographer and an editor. He has reported on child labor in gold mining in Burkina Faso and the Philippines as part of his Pulitzer Center-supported projects. Among other outlets, his work appears in the Pulitzer Center e-book Tarnished: The True Cost of Gold. The exhibition showcases photographs from his project "Philippines and Indonesia: The Cost Of Gold" where he documents the lives of child labors working in gold mines.

Work from other photojournalists accompany Price's photography in the exhibition, including that of Robin Hammond, who also previously reported on the hazards of gold mining. For the Pulitzer Center, Hammond reported on mental health in Liberia and Sierra Leone.
