Two Pulitzer Center-supported documentaries are included in "Pushing Change: Shorts from China's Environmental Edge," a program organized for Saturday, September 8, 2018, as part of the 8th Annual San Francisco Green Film Festival. The two short films are "Searching for Sacred Mountain" and “Drinking the Northwest Wind.”
Pulitzer Center grantees Shi Lihong and Gary Marcuse collaborated on "Searching for Sacred Mountain," which tells the story of how the Chinese government is appealing to traditional religions to help create an "ecological civilization" that values the environment. The two filmmakers are expected guests at the screening.
"Drinking the Northwest Wind" is a film by Pulitzer Center grantee Sharron Lovell that explores the impact of China's South North Water Transfer project in the context of water scarcity issues across China and the world.
This year's San Francisco Green Film Festival is an official Affiliate Event of the Global Climate Action Summit that is bringing leaders from around the world to San Francisco to support the Paris Climate Agreement. The festival, which runs September 6 to 13, will present 50 premieres of new, international films with live events and special guests.
