Join Pulitzer Center grantee Zach Fannin and the Dean Rusk International Studies Program at Davidson College on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, for an inside look at Putin's Russia.
Fannin discusses Russia's bilateral relationship with the United States, the country's ascendant nationalism, widespread propaganda, and the fate of the President Putin’s enemies. His award-winning PBS NewsHour series, produced with Nick Schifrin and supported by the Pulitzer Center, examines the new Russian identity—a combination of religion, pre-Soviet traditions, and rediscovered patriotism—and highlights Russia’s widespread and effective use of propaganda, from troll factories to Kremlin-controlled television networks.
Fannin is a freelance producer, editor and cameraperson who has worked for the PBS NewsHour, Vice News, MSNBC, News Corp, Bloomberg TV and The Daily Beast. He is the recipient of both an Edward R. Murrow Award and an Alfred I. duPont Award.
The event, which is free and open to the public, is part of Fannin's two-day visit to Davidson, a Pulitzer Center Campus Consortium partner. Ann Peters, Pulitzer Center university and community outreach director, joins Fannin for the visit.
