Please join us on Tuesday, April 16 and Wednesday, April 17, 2019, for a series of classroom visits, informal sessions and a public lecture involving Pulitzer Center grantee journalist Lauren-Brooke Eisen and Pulitzer Center Senior Education Manager Fareed Mostoufi at Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem, NC.

Eisen's Pulitzer Center-supported project, "Incentivizing Innovation in Corrections," examines public-private partnerships in the Australian and New Zealand prison systems. There, governments provide financial incentives to private prisons if they outperform government-run prisons at reducing recidivism. In the United States, the central question surrounding the private prison debate is whether they should exist at all; this project changes the focus of the question to 'how can we improve them?'

Eisen also will lead conversations with students on her reporting on other issues in criminal justice.

In addition, Eisen and Mostoufi will visit Forsyth Tech-affiliate locations, including the Northwest Forsyth Center in King, the site of Forsyth Tech's Criminal Justice program, and the Stokes County Campus. Forsyth Tech is a Campus Consortium partner.
