Pulitzer Center grantee Ivan Sigal shares his techniques in digital collection at a one-day installation of his photography and film on Monday, April 20, in the Harvard Art Museums' Lightbox Gallery.
Sigal's exhibition is one of the Lightbox Navigations daily investigations into technology during the Cambridge Science Festival, which runs from April 17—26.
"KCR"is Siga's documentary and installation project that traces the path of the defunct Karachi Circular Railway in Karachi, Pakistan, through a spatialized archive of video, stills, text, and drone aerial footage. Sigal also is a fellow at Harvard’s Berkman Center for Internet & Society
"KCR" addresses the urban development issues that Sigal reported on for his Pulitzer Center-reported project, "The Karachi Circular Railroad." As part of his reporting project, Sigal explored the 30-kilometer railway bed, circumnavigating the city, documenting its present disorder. He followed the line both through the city and into the suburbs and rural communities, using it as a guide to stories about the city’s growth, its urban present, its rural past and its possible futures.
