On Wednesday, August 1, 2018, Pulitzer Center Senior Editor Tom Hundley joins the NABJ 2018 workshop, "Making the Pitch: How to Land Grants and Reporting Fellowships," at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center to speak about how to make a perfect pitch to the Pulitzer Center. 

Lottie Joiner, independent journalist and Fund for Investigative Journalism board member, moderates the workshop aimed at helping journalists of color develop the skills and confidence to get grants and fellowships. Discussion surrounds crafting the pitch, drafting budgets, and meeting other requirements. 

Panel participants include:

  • Bobby Caina Calvan, Collaborations Editor, Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting; and Director of Operations, The Fund for Investigative Journalism
  • Lynette Clemetson, Director of Wallace House, home of the Knight-Wallace fellowships for journalists and the Livingston Awards

  • Laird Townsend, Director, Freelance Investigative Reporters and Editor (FIRE)
