Featured as the main story in The New York Times Magazine climate change issue, "Losing Earth" investigates how we came close to solving the climate change challenge in the 1980s and how that effort failed. The event also includes Pulitzer Center Executive Director Jon Sawyer. Dr. Anthony Leiserowitz, director of the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication, moderates.
Rich's reporting in "Losing Earth" documents the reasoning behind current climate change narrative and addresses why climate change has been so difficult to overcome. Stunning aerial photography by Steinmetz, taken over the past year, reveals some of the damage already done due to climate change, and what is at stake.
Rich is a novelist and writer at large for The New York Times Magazine. He is the author of three novels, “King Zeno,” ‘‘Odds Against Tomorrow,’’ and “The Mayor’s Tongue.” Steinmetz is an award-winning photographer with more than 30 years of work for The New York Times Magazine and National Geographic. Steinmetz has published four books of his photography: ‘‘African Air,’’ ‘‘Empty Quarter,’’ ‘‘Desert Air’’ and ‘‘New York Air.’’
