On Saturday, May 2, 2020, join award-winning photojournalist Paula Bronstein as she discusses her Pulitzer Center-supported project documenting the effects of war on Ukraine's elderly population. The 30-minute online discussion is part of Head On Photo Festival, which also is exhibiting Bronstein's work online.
Bronstein's expertise is documenting humanity, bringing awareness to issues throughout the world, focusing on many conflict regions. She is the author of Afghanistan: Between Hope and Fear. Currently freelance, Bronstein's reporting in Afghanistan also has been supported by the Pulitzer Center. With over three decades of experience, Bronstein has worked as a staff photographer for a variety of American newspapers for 15 years before moving to the Asian region working with Getty Images as senior staff photographer from 2002-2013.
Her series "Ukraine's War: Elderly Lives Frozen by Conflict" examines the disproportionate burden faced by Ukraine's elderly, who live in a country where almost one third of humanitarian assistance goes to those aged 60 and older. The online exhibition of Bronstein's work is available for viewing after May 1, 2020.
The half-hour webinar begins at 11:00 AM GMT+10 (Australia/Sydney). Participants will be able to ask questions during a "live chat" section.
