As part of a two-day campus visit to Elon University focused on the global migration crisis, award-winning investigative journalist and filmmaker Emily Kassie speaks at a communitywide lecture on Wednesday, October 24, 2018.

Millions of refugees have risked their lives crossing the Mediterranean to Europe. It's the greatest migration in recorded history, and it is transforming entire economies and societies in real time. Kassie, along with award-winning journalist Malia Politzer, reported on the CEOs, criminals, and small-time vultures who are making a killing off the refugee crisis in Refugee Boom and Bust: A Global Gold Rush. Their Pulitzer Center-supported project showed an entirely new dimension of a phenomenon that is altering the course of the 21st century.

The event is free and open to the public as part of Kassie's visit to Elon, a Pulitzer Center Campus Consortium partner. During her time on campus, she also visits classes and has more informal sessions with students and faculty.
