Sean Gallagher Photos Shown at Reception in Beijing

Saturday, April 20, 2013 - 03:00am to 06:00am EDT (GMT -0400)

The Tibetan Plateau is home to the largest store of fresh water outside of the North and South Poles. It feeds water into Asia’s major rivers, which in turn supply water to over a billion people. But as a result of anthropogenic climate change, temperatures are rising on the Tibetan Plateau faster than anywhere else in Asia, leading to melting glaciers, increasing desertification and degraded grasslands.

Pulitzer Center grantee Sean Gallagher is a British photojournalist based in China who traveled to the region to examine these environmental shifts that influence the entire Asian continent. An exhibition in Beijing on Saturday, April 20 will showcase photographs from Gallagher's reporting project.
