Join Pulitzer Center grantees Nick Schifrin and Zach Fannin for a Talks @ Pulitzer on Monday, July 17, 2017 about their PBS NewsHour reporting on Russia, Ukraine, NATO, and the Baltics. Pulitzer Center Senior Advisor Marvin Kalb moderates the discussion.

The NewsHour special correspondent and producer are longtime Pulitzer Center collaborators, including on Russia's Cold War Fault Lines and Mexico Considers Trump.

During the week of July 10, 2017, Schifrin and Fannin's special six-part series Inside Russia airs on the NewsHour across six nights, representing one of the most robust reporting efforts in recent memory from Russia by an American television program. In the series, Schifrin and Fannin begin with an examination of the new Russian identity and explanation of Putin's acts and his popularity. They further explore Russia’s widespread and effective use of propaganda, the state's brutal response to the Islamist insurgency, and the state of the opposition. They also reveal why early Russian optimism for President Trump evaporated, and the state of the investigation into President Trump and his campaign.

A light reception begins at 6:30pm, with the moderated discussion with Kalb, Schifrin and Fannin starting at 7:00pm. The event is free and open to the public.
