Don Belt, a veteran journalist and former National Geographic editor, shares the community-based Slow Journalism curriculum he teaches at the University of Richmond during a workshop on Monday, March, 9, 2020, at the University of Texas at Austin.

The curriculum, which is modeled on Paul Salopek’s Out of Eden Walk, focuses on applying the principles of slow journalism to semester-long narrative projects, with practice across various aspects of digital storytelling: research, story development, pitching, reporting, writing, photography, cartography, videography, social media, web design, and platform building.

Belt's workshop at the University of Texas at Austin is for faculty and graduate students. Ann Peters, university and community outreach director, joins the workshop. The Pulitzer Center is an education partner of the Out of Eden Walk.
