Edilma Prada Céspedes

Edilma Prada Céspedes is an investigative journalist and Masters candidate in Human Rights with a specialization in Peace Culture and International Humanitarian Law. She has fifteen years of experience covering issues of human rights, armed conflict, Indigenous peoples, borders, peace and the environment. She specializes in the production of in-depth multimedia journalism projects, and she is the founder and director of the independent media organization Agenda Propia.

Prada Céspedes is currently a fellow of the International Women's Media Foundation Adelante and a member of Connectas, a non-profit journalism project that promotes production with a transnational perspective. She works as an investigative consultant for the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) on topics such as illegal wood trade, deforestation and livestock markets in the Colombian Amazon. In 2018, she joined the worldwide effort of the Panama Papers investigation (all of the information related to the Colombian case was published in Connectas and in the national newspaper, El Espectador). 

Prada Céspedes is a workshop facilitator in journalism, peace narratives, digital tools and use of open data for the DW Akademie. She has received 5 journalism awards in Colombia and Latin America. In 2015, she was a fellow OAS on Open Government in the Americas.
