Jennifer Koons is a Washington, D.C.-based journalist whose work has appeared in The New York Times, Salon, Huffington Post, Foreign Policy and GlobalPost, among other publications. She teaches undergraduate journalism at Georgetown University and previously taught at Northwestern University in Doha, Qatar.

Koons has traveled and worked in the Middle East, Europe and Africa with the dual purposes of putting a name and a face to those individuals bearing witness to the news of the day and teaching young aspiring journalists to do the same.

She earned a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism, a master’s degree in law from the Northwestern University School of Law and was the McCormick Journalism Fellow at the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press in Arlington, Va.
