Kalen Goodluck is Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara, and Diné from Albuquerque, New Mexico. He attended Bard College in Annandale-On-Hudson, New York, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in human rights. After collaborating on a documentary with his brother, Goodluck got a master’s degree at the City University of New York's Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism. Before joining High Country News, Goodluck interned twice at NBC News’ Investigative Unit, where he reported on the medical device industry. He also contributed to a team through Type Investigations (formerly The Investigative Fund) that dug into right-wing extremism. When not reporting, he enjoys eating s’mores by a campfire.
