Kiran Misra is a recent graduate of the MPP program at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy, where she primarily researched and wrote about prison industrial complex abolition work in Chicago. Prior to graduate school, Kiran completed her BA with honors in Public Policy and Human Rights from the University of Chicago, while working as a criminal justice reform researcher, community organizing, and doing freelance journalism and photography. Her honors thesis was entitled "Do We Belong Here: South Asian Civic Engagement and Identity in America," which discussed the emergence of the South Asian American civic identity in the last two decades.
