Lydia Chávez

Lydia Chávez is a writer at the Mission Local news website based in San Francisco's Mission District neighborhood. Earlier in her career, she was at The New York Times on the business, foreign, and city desks. Her master’s project at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, later published in New York Magazine, was on New York's experiment in community boards. Until the spring of 2019, she was a professor at the University of California, Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism.
