MacKenzie Elmer is an environment and energy reporter based in San Diego. She recently graduated from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography's Climate Science and Policy program. There she published an original report revealing the effects of lithium mining on Indigenous Chilean populations fueled by California's battery storage demand and 100 percent clean energy mandate.
