Rhitu Chatterjee is a freelance multimedia journalist based in New Delhi. She covers science, the environment, global health and development. Whether it is a story about Indian girls trying to navigate a landscape of changing gender dynamics, or young American boys coping with growing pressure to look a certain way, or a lone scientist’s battle to survive in a dying profession, Rhitu is most drawn to stories about human experiences during social, economic and cultural transitions.

Before moving back to her home country, India last year, she worked briefly as a science reporter with NPR and before that as a correspondent with The World, a co-production by the BBC World Service, Public Radio International and WGBH radio, Boston.

Rhitu did her undergraduate work in Darjeeling and she holds an M.A. in journalism from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
