Dr. Suraj Yengde is an award-winning scholar and activist from India. Yengde was born into a family of the Dalit, or “untouchable,” caste, and much of his work focuses on issues of casteism, racism, and institutionalized discrimination. He is the author of the bestselling book Caste Matters (2019) and a co-editor of The Radical in Ambedkar (2018). Currently, he is a senior fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School and an inaugural postdoctoral fellow at Harvard’s Initiative for Institutional Anti-racism and Accountability (IARA). Yengde was also featured in the Pulitzer Center-supported reporting project “Caste Discrimination in the U.S.A” by WGBH/PRI’s The World.
