Thea Piltzecker

Thea Piltzecker is a documentary journalist based in New York. She is currently developing a new season of "Death Row Stories" for CNN at Jigsaw Productions. As a freelance associate producer, Thea has investigated a wide range of topics for documentaries that have aired on PBS, Vice, and NBC. She has also worked with independent filmmaker Rachel Boynton on a feature-length documentary about collective memory of the Civil War, and is an adjunct professor at Columbia Journalism School. A graduate of Bard College with a degree in literature and human rights, Thea received her M.S. from Columbia Journalism School's documentary concentration in 2017. She comes from a 500-year-old pie-baking tradition.
