Tony Leys

Tony Leys, 47, has been an editor and reporter for the Des Moines Register since 1988. He has primarily covered health care since 2000, while also dabbling in politics and other subjects. His projects have included reporting trips to Afghanistan, Uganda, Guatemala and Mali. He has a bachelor’s degree in economics, journalism and political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is married to Drake University journalism professor Jill Van Wyke. They have two teen-age children.
