River Missionaries: The Catholic Counteroffensive in the Amazon

Catholic missionaries were the first non-native persons to arrive at the Amazon rainforest alongside the conquistadors. Five centuries later, they are gathering to try and regain influence in those areas. This project explores the dynamics and work of Catholic missionaries in an area where evangelicals and the theology of prosperity are booming alongside deforestation.
