Afghanistan: Traffic Jam

We ran into our first Afghan traffic jam this morning.

Craft and I were in a convoy headed back to Salerno. Most times, the Afghans will get out of the way of an American convoy. When they don't, the soldiers shoo them to the side of the road. The soldiers do their best to keep local cars away from the convoy because of suicide attacks.
But this morning, the soldiers had no choice but to get in line because the bridge over the wadi on the way to Salerno is washed out. The traffic jam stretched well above the bank and down the paved road headed toward the city...
