CHABHA supports a total of nine projects, four of these are in Rwanda. CHABHA provides the sole support for these Rwanda projects.
They began helping AMAHORO Association in 2003. AMAHORO means "peace." The 7 leaders, all orphaned by genocide, work to help families stay together. They support traditional music and dance at weekly gatherings. Until CHABHA became involved in 2004, they received no financial support. They now have 430 families with a total of 1500 children, many of them child-headed households.
CHABHA money provides for education, health cards, emergency foods, home visitis, life skills workshop, and leadership training.
Other CHABHA Rwanda projects include: AJESOV, in Nyamata (135 children) and AGAPE (100 children) and Project Independence in Kigali. CHABHA's funding comes from individuals, churches, and grants. Project Independence was sponsored by Operation Day?s Work (OPW) in 2006. They are now working to raise funds to continue Project Independence after ODW funds are depleted.
