Ecuador's Education Reforms Get Mixed Reactions

Ecuador's new university accreditation process through CEAASES (Consejo de Evaluacion Acreditacion y Aseguramemiento de la Calidad de la Educacion Superior) has been labeled a success thus far, raising the bar for quality for some institutions and eliminating those that don’t make the grade. But some educators think it's still too early to conclude whether other changes to the educational system will prove positive.

Ryan Cobey, an administrator at the accreditation group CEASSES; Fernando Miño-Garces, long-time educator and head of the Andean Center for Latin American Studies; and Manuel Dutasaca, principal of Escuela y Colegio Nuevos Horizontes del Sur, share their thoughts about the changes to Ecuador’s education system.
