Ivory Coast: Impartial Justice Poses Test for New Government

Image by Peter DiCampo. Ivory Coast, 2010.

A new Human Rights Watch's report, "'They Killed Them Like It Was Nothing': The Need for Justice for Côte d’Ivoire’s Post-Election Crimes,” features photographs from Pulitzer Center grantee Peter DiCampo who covered the crisis earlier this year. An audio interview with Matt Wells of Human Rights Watch features testimonies collected by DiCampo from witnesses of the atrocities.

For his project "Ivory Coast: Elections Turn to War," DiCampo started photographing in western Ivory Coast on the day the country's former president Laurent Gbagbo was forced from office. His images reveal the depth of the violence.
