Sudanese in U.S. See Referendum Vote as New Hope for Homeland

Sudanese in the US have been given the opportunity to vote on the referendum for southern secession. They share their hopes and dreams for a new southern Sudan.

Sudan begins voting Sunday on a referendum that will decide whether the South will secede from the North.

The Pulitzer Center's Jake Naughton has been reporting on the Sudanese diaspora in the U.S., the hardships they have faced since leaving Sudan and their hopes for a new nation and the role they might play in it. In this report, hear from some Sudanese in Washington, D.C.
