Ukrainian Women: Fighting the War Is Only Half the Battle

This video introduces the stories of four women who served in different capacities in the war in Ukraine. Some women, like Yana Kholodna, climbed the ranks of the Ministry of Defense and served by leading groups of soldiers. There are also women, like Svitlana Tahai, a sniper, who served in combat positions. Other women such as Yuliia Shavchuk raced to the frontlines without ever joining the military.

Many women, though, serve by creating organizations in their own communities that seek to repair the damages done by war. One example of this is Tetiana Bondar, a clothes vendor who created an organization for displaced families after recognizing the need for relief in her community.
