Waiting for Shelter: Unaccompanied Refugee Minors Search for Support

More than half of unaccompanied refugee minors in Greece are waitlisted for shelters. While on the waitlists, minors turn to long-settled immigrant communities for support. These immigrants are themselves marginalized and require payment in return for the support they provide minors. Without legitimate means of income, minors can become trapped in cycles of debt that make living in a children’s shelter unfeasible.
