Pulitzer Center Update

Video: Looking Back at 2020

This year has demanded so much from all of us. It’s tested the limits of our national and global systems, community ties, and personal grit. It’s shown how capable we are of rising to immense challenges, and how far we fall when we do not. 2020 forced us to adapt to reporting across closed borders and teaching in virtual school environments. It showed us the critical role journalism plays—not only in shining light on broken systems, but in illuminating solutions as well.

This year, the Pulitzer Center supported over 175 reporting projects across the world and connected thousands of students with that journalism through our lesson plans. The work we’ve supported has won awards, prompted legislation changes, and raised awareness of systemic crises around the globe.
