Pulitzer Center Update

Xyza Cruz Bacani Interviewed on This Week in Photo

On November 20, 2019, Pulitzer Center grantee and documentary photographer Xyza Cruz Bacani spoke with Frederick Van Johnson, the host of This Week in Photo, about working as a photojournalist. They talked about her book, "We Are Like Air," along with her philosophy and methodology when it comes to documenting the lives of people effected by human rights and labor migration issues.

Bacani spoke about her most recent Pulitzer Center-sponsored project, Climate Change and Human Trafficking in Indonesia, which aims to shed light on the stories and faces of the climate crisis. She wants to help people relate to the climate change story by humanizing the issue in hopes of highlighting people who: "actually suffer from climate change," says Bacani.
