Meet the Journalist: Sharron Lovell

Sharron Lovell dives deep into the human impact of the Chinese dam projects. With millions of people relocated to a new town with no job and their past washed away, many fall into crippling poverty. China's attitude of "a little sacrifice for a large step in progress" does not quite capture the full grasp of the true story.

Lovell follows the story of one man who has been forced to relocate three times in his life: He now lives and works on his fishing boat to support his family—and is about to have his occupation taken away from him by the Chinese government. He has an uncertain future and little savings thanks to medical expenses.
