Eve Conant visits Obninsk, where experts and students from many countries come to visit, learn and explore the possibilities of Russian-built nuclear power plants. Obninsk, now a well-known “science city” in Russia, was a secret site under the Stalin regime, devoted to the Soviet Union’s effort to match America’s nuclear prowess in the 1940s.
